My name is Emily Mitoh, born and raised in Changamwe Sub-County, Airport ward, Soweto village. Before joining the DREAMS program, I was a shy girl with low self-esteem, but through DREAMS, I was able to be trained as a mentor. Through the process of mentorship, I have been taken through the following training; entrepreneurship training, Life skill training, and financial capability training. With the skills in entrepreneurship training, I have managed to train more than l 00 Adolescent Girls and Young Women
(AGYW) in my community. My resilience, passion, and hard work to make my community a better place have been spearheaded by the DREAMS program. I was lucky to be elected as Deputy President Youth leader in my community, and a team lead for mentors under the DREAMS program. Thank you, DREAMS, for your support.
I am a beneficiary under the DREAMS program; before the program, I could not stand in front of people, but through the training, knowledge, and empowerment, I have gained confidence and can make my own decisions.
I was trained on behaviour change where I take care of myself as a change-maker, I can influence other girls in my community to join the program so that we can continue campaigning to stop GBV, early marriages, and drug abuse. I have been able to start my own business because of the DREAMS program. I am very grateful for this program
I am Patricia Wanyika DREAM girl from Changamwe Sub-County, Kipevu ward, Kaloleni village, and currently working as a mentor under the DREAMS program. I was rewarded the mentorship role for being an active mentee. I appreciate this program of DREAMS, for it has impacted positive changes in my life. Throughout the sessions, I have gained knowledge on how to distance myself from risky behaviours.
Some of these risks are early pregnancy, early marriages, and drug abuse. Through Financial Capability training received, I can save little from my monthly stipends to further my studies.
